In honor of Lucille Rembert Snipe’s unwavering commitment to education, the Future Leader Scholarship was established in 1998. This scholarship continues
to support students aspiring to attend college, embodying Lucille’s belief that education is the great equalizer. Though she passed away in 2001, her legacy lives on through the LRS Foundation, which remains dedicated to providing vital assistance to students pursuing higher education.

Lucille’s dedication and perseverance shone brightly when, at the age of 35, she enrolled at Morris College in 1950 to pursue a nursing degree. Balancing her
responsibilities as both a mother and a student, she often studied late into the night alongside her children. Her high school classmates recognized her intelligence and unwavering determination, considering her an inspiration to all.

Since its inception, the Future Leader Scholarship has awarded over 227 scholarships, with recipients achieving a graduation rate of over 81% from 1998 to 2022. This remarkable statistic underscores the profound impact of Lucille’s vision and the enduring support provided by the foundation.

Lucille Rembert Snipe’s story is a powerful reminder that individual determination, coupled with a belief in the transformative power of education, can create lasting change. Her legacy not only inspires others to make a difference but also demonstrates the ripple effect one person’s actions can have on countless lives.
